The season is over for the Cleveland Browns, and that means it's time to grade the Browns on their season.
James Walker of ESPN breaks down his grade system into several categories like the biggest surprise, biggest disappointment, biggest need and here's an easy one --- Team MVP.
The biggest surprise and MVP are one and the same in running back Peyton Hillis. He was basically an unknown to start the season (a throw in to complete a trade with Denver). Hillis rushed for 1,177 yards and 13 touchdowns.
Jake Delhomme received the award for the biggest disappointment.
Veteran Jake Delhomme was paid $7 million this year to bring stability to the quarterback position. But poor play and injuries made Delhomme the team's No. 3 quarterback by season's end. Delhomme threw for 872 yards, two touchdowns and seven interceptions in five games.
Walker writes that the biggest need (besides a coach) is to bring in an elite receiver to help quarterback Colt McCoy.
The Browns also could use another pass-rushing linebacker or defensive end. Last season, Cleveland got cornerback Joe Haden, safety T.J. Ward and McCoy in the draft, and securing three rookie starters is tremendous. Another solid draft class would be a great step in the right direction for Cleveland, which also has to find its next head coach.
