Several former Texas Longhorn football players have returned to Austin in preparation for this weeks Texas Pro Timing Day on Wednesday. KEYE Sports caught up with a few former Horns to get their thoughts about returning to the forty acres, as well as showcasing their talents in front of NFL coaches, and scouts.
Former Texas Defensive Tackle Roy Miller will be on hand to show off his skills. Miller was one of the strongest players to ever wear the burnt orange, routinely bench pressing 500lbs. He started 19 of the 49 games he played in from 2005-08. Miller ended his Longhorn career with 10 career sacks, and 138 total tackles. He was also named the 2009 Fiesta Bowl Defensive MVP in the Longhorns thrilling 24-21 come-from-behind victory over Ohio State.
Two other former defensive standouts are participating in tomorrows workouts; former linebacker Rashad Bobino, and defensive end Brian Orakpo. Bobino was a 3-time All-Big12 Conference selection starting 45 of the 52 games he played in from 2005-08, and finished his career with 4.5 sacks and 235 total tackles. Orakpo had an outstanding senior campaign in 2008, winning three major awards; the Hendricks Award (top defensive player), the Nagurski Trophy (top defensive player), and the Lombardi Award (nations top lineman). He ended his Longhorn career with 22 sacks and 132 total tackles.
Among offensive players, former lineman, Cedric Dockery, will also be on hand for Pro Timing Day. Dockery started all 13 games in 2008 at guard, and was a 2-time All-Big12 selection during his tenure at Texas starting 30 of 41 games he played in.
