Orakpo, McCoy, Brown in semis for major trophies

On-field success generally brings hardware. And some star Longhorns are getting recognized now that award season is heating up.

On Wednesday, the Maxwell Club announced semifinalists for its three major awards.

Quarterback Colt McCoy is a semifinalist for the Maxwell, which is presented to the country’s top offensive player.

Defensive end Brian Orakpo is a semifinalist for the Bednarik, the trophy earned by the nation’s best defender.

And Mack Brown is made the semifinal cut for the Munger, the trophy for the nation’s best coach.
