Seen and heard around Wednesday's training camp:
Dockery dazzling: Undrafted rookie cornerback James Dockery from Oregon State is making a big impact, especially in two-minute drills. He's had numerous pass breakups and three interceptions since Saturday, including one off Colt McCoy in his two-minute drill at the stadium. Dockery also picked off a Seneca Wallace Hail Mary on Monday and Jarrett Brown Wednesday.
"He's shown up and made some plays," said Pat Shurmur. "Let's hope that continues. Maybe we'll see it Saturday night."
Dockery said "I know my back's against the wall, so I come out everyday and try to make the most of it." As for the Packers game, he said, "I hope to show I can compete with the best in the league. That receiving group made everybody look bad [in the playoffs last year]."
Brown praised: Shurmur likes Jarrett Brown, who fired a long TD pass to rookie L.J. Castile Wednesday, as a developmental QB. "There's something natural about what he does," said Shurmur, who then cautioned, "You want to hold total judgment on this until you see him play in games."
Injury update: The following players were idle: WR Mohamed Massaquoi (foot), RB Montario Hardesty (knee), DL Jabari Fletcher (knee), DE Jayme Mitchell (knee) and LB Chris Gocong (neck). Offensive lineman Dominic Alford, a Cleveland native, was carted off with a back injury.
